Legislative decisions shape daily life, but the underlying information is difficult to access, fragmented across institutions, and written for specialists rather than the public.

As traditional news economics have weakened, coverage has shifted away from primary sources toward commentary and opinion.

The result is an information gap: citizens are expected to form opinions about laws and governments without clear, direct access to what is actually being proposed, debated, and decided.

The work towards our mission has created the largest standardized political dataset in Canada.

We use LLMs to turn hundreds of pages of legislation into something that is easy to understand.

The Civics Project is designed, built, and wholy owned by Canadians.
