Clean Energy Law Repealed

Full Title:
Act to repeal the Clean Energy Act

Summary#

This very short law cancels (repeals) the Yukon Clean Energy Act. It removes the rules and powers that came from that older law. It has been passed and is now in force.

  • The Clean Energy Act no longer applies in Yukon.
  • Government duties that existed only because of that act (such as any plans or reports it required) end unless moved into another law or policy.
  • Regulations or orders that relied only on that act may also end.
  • Programs created by government policy, not by the act itself, can continue if the government keeps them.

What it means for you#

  • General public

    • Day-to-day life likely does not change right away.
    • If you used a program, rebate, or rule that existed only because of the Clean Energy Act, it may end or move under another policy. Check with the department that ran it.
  • Businesses and builders

    • Any permits, plans, or reporting that were required only under the Clean Energy Act likely stop.
    • Other laws and rules (for land use, utilities, building codes, etc.) still apply.
  • Utilities and energy providers

    • Any targets, planning steps, or oversight that came only from the Clean Energy Act may no longer apply.
    • Other regulators and laws still govern rates, safety, and service.
  • Local governments and First Nations

    • If the Clean Energy Act required coordination or reporting, those duties likely end unless carried forward by agreement or another law.
    • Existing partnerships or funding outside that act can continue.
